The Real Problem with Bad Data

Bad revenue data doesn't just create bad reports, it creates what I call a trust tax. 💸
You pay it every time someone:
💰 exports Salesforce “just to check”
💰 rebuilds a dashboard in a spreadsheet
💰 asks Finance to validate a number again
💰 waits for someone else to explain a metric
💰 makes a decision with a quiet “I think”
That tax is rarely visible on a P&L, but it shows up everywhere: slower meetings, delayed hiring decisions, more manual work... more meetings about the meetings.
And the real kicker? Most teams solve it by buying another tool. It might have a different name than Excel or Google Spreadsheets, but it essentially does the same thing. 🦆
Don't get me wrong, sometimes the problem is tooling, but more often than not, the problem is that nobody agreed on the definition, ownership, or process behind the number.
You cannot dashboard your way out of ambiguity: you have to first make the number trustworthy.
Then make it pretty.
