The Most Dangerous ARR Number

The Most Dangerous ARR Number.

The most dangerous ARR number is not the wrong one.

It’s the one everyone 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘴 is right.

A clearly broken report gets investigated almost immediately, but a "plausible" number gets copied into forecast reviews, board decks, compensation conversations, hiring plans, etc...

…until someone asks the very annoying question: “Where did this actually come from?” 😵

In most Salesforce orgs, ARR disagreements are not a dashboard problem, but rather a definition issue.

❓ What counts as a new logo?
❓ When does expansion begin?
❓ What happens during a ramp?
❓ Does a paused subscription churn?
❓ Which system gets the deciding vote?

You don’t need more charts until those answers are boringly consistent.

That’s what reliable metrics look like: not impressive. Repeatable. 🫳🎤
