The Boring Work of RevOps

The best RevOps work usually looks boring from the outside.
A lot of people expect good RevOps to look impressive. I’ve found the opposite is usually true.
The best systems are the ones that feel almost unremarkable:
✅ the process is obvious
✅ the report is trusted
✅ the automation is invisible
✅ the exceptions are rare
That’s the whole point.
The best analogy is when you're driving a car, you're not constantly monitoring the pistons moving in the engine or ensuring the gears are turning. You've got a dashboard and rely on the car telling you if something needs to be checked.
When I say “RevOps Simplified,” I don’t mean “less capable.” I mean less fragile, less custom, and less dependent on one person remembering how the machine works.
The irony is that simplification often takes more skill than complexity. Anyone can add another workflow, but it takes judgment to remove one.
That’s the part I’ve come to respect most in this work: building systems that survive real usage, not just demos.
