My Biggest Regret

My Biggest Regret
“Biggest regret?”
I don’t know if it’s the time of year, the recent move or just talking shop with other founders at the conference but I’ve been feeling reflective of my own entrepreneur journey lately.
So when I was recently asked if I had a “biggest regret” when it came to building ForecaaS, my immediate response was that I hadn’t started sooner.
And while true, ForecaaS would not be the company it is and I wouldn’t be the founder I am if I had.
The conversations, the frustrations, the challenges, the wins, the multitude of organizations and people I worked with, right up until the launch of my own venture, were instrumental. (... and the ones that happened after are definitely as valuable!)
They showed me what I really wanted and validated the challenges that I was looking to solve with ForecaaS and later, ARRow.
I’m not going to say it was easy or that it’s for everyone. You have to have a deep passion for your vision and then attempt to maintain it over years of grind and personal sacrifice.
Particularly for first time founders, there’s no “lessons learned” that you can pull from your previous experience – and those early trial and error cycles can be devastating.
But personally, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m a problem-solving builder at heart, like many of the people I meet in RevOps and this path was meant for me.
My best advice? If it’s your journey too, you’ll know the timing is right because it’ll feel like the only possible option (and truly best course of actions).
I had to wrestle my imposter syndrome (still do from time to time) before understanding that the time was right. The experiences and expertise I gained throughout my career definitely helped with that battle, especially since our clients are looking to me for guidance and consulting services, and I certainly don't want to guide them on the wrong path.
BTW - this is what my beginning looked like.
A paper sign stuck up with some tape in my freshly painted home office and honestly? Stil makes me proud to see!
Anybody else care to share theirs?
