Lock it Down

Lock it Down

If you own a Salesforce org, "lock it down" isn't a meme, it's the job description.

Security is top of mind for anyone in the Salesforce ecosystem right now, from users and admins to Salesforce execs themselves, and we see that reflected in their recent updates.

With the recent wave of fines, breaches, and eroded reputation caused by a lack of proper security measures, none of this should be a surprise.

When I originally built ForecaaS ARRow, the decision to keep it 100% Salesforce-native had more to do with avoiding the tedious, error-prone process of exporting, manually manipulating, then re-importing revenue data.

That’s what lit up the eyes of prospective clients, so that’s the value I leaned on in early conversations.

The security implications were a nice-to-have bullet point that only really came up once the CTO or RevOps leader joined the implementation discussions.

Fast-forward to 2026 and it’s almost the inverse.

There are a plethora of revenue reporting tools that have entered the space and with the rise of vibe-coding, even more can be spun up quickly (with possible revenue hallucination side-effects... but that's a whole other post 🙄).

But Salesforce users are taking their tech audits far more seriously now. No one wants to be the next ShinyHunters victim and compromise their entire customer database, and external integrations that siphon data out of Salesforce are the # 1 risk surface.

That formerly dismissed bullet point has now become the focal point of the first few conversations with prospects, which we love to see.

All this to say: trust in a product starts at the inception point.

I knew keeping ARRow, and all ForecaaS Software products, Salesforce-native was the right decision for end users, even if it limited our ability to sell to non-Salesforce orgs.

If your core data and security framework live inside Salesforce, your revenue metrics should too.

It’s why I’m such a proponent of the Jobs-To-Be-Done framework. It pushed me to build products around customer goals - security, trust, and reliability included - not just business outcomes.
