CSI: RevOps

RevOps Crime Scene # 1: a metric with five different owners...

Which means it has no owner:
🧐 Finance owns the final number.
🧐 Sales owns the forecast.
🧐 CS owns the customer status.
🧐 RevOps owns the report.
🧐 And somebody in a spreadsheet named final_v5_copy_v2 owns the β€œreal version.”

That setup works "ok" until the business needs an answer quickly, but then every meeting starts with: β€œBefore we review the number, we should probably align on the number.”

That is a data custody dispute, and that comes with a lot of opinions rather than true, indisputable evidence.

Reliable RevOps does not mean every team gives up ownership of its work. It means the business agrees on:
βœ… the definition
βœ… the source of truth
βœ… the process for exceptions
βœ… who decides when systems disagree

If nobody can answer those four things, the dashboard is just a well-designed argument.
